New! Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) literature review

Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) evaluates social impacts of products across their life cycle. A review of 30 bioenergy studies (2009–2024) revealed a growing interest in the use of S-LCA. However methodological and interpretation challenges remain. Social impacts are the least studied dimension of sustainability but as interest in S-LCA grows, its role in sustainability assessments is expected to strengthen.
