ADVANCING WASTE VALORIZATION: Insights for Biogas America & Waste Expo 2025
If you missed the 2025 Biogas Americas and Waste Expo 2025 conferences, don’t worry! Here you can find some insights about these events.
BIOGAS AMERICA & WASTE EXPO 2025
The 2025 BIOGAS AMERICAS and WasteExpo 2025 conferences reflected the waste management sector’s deepening commitment to waste valorization, highlighting how innovation, market demand, and supportive policy are advancing the use of waste as a resource. Both events showcased practical strategies for turning waste into valuable products—such as renewable fuels and recovered materials—while improving operational efficiency and creating new revenue streams. The strong attendance, range of technologies, and cross-sector collaboration signal a continued industry focus on resource and infrastructure optimization to strengthen local economies and modernize waste systems.
The 2025 BIOGAS AMERICAS conference held April 28–30 in Denver, Colorado, brought together over 2,200 professionals from the biogas and renewable natural gas (RNG) sectors, marking it as the largest event of its kind in North America. Organized by the American Biogas Council, the conference focused on expanding market opportunities for biogas-derived fuels, particularly in hard-to-decarbonize sectors such as aviation, maritime shipping, and heavy-duty trucking. A key session, “Planes, Ships, and Semis: The Explosive Growth in Voluntary Clean Fuel Demand,” highlighted how biogas is emerging as a critical feedstock for producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable ammonia, and other low-carbon fuels. Presentations and exhibitor display also featured new anaerobic digestion technologies, carbon intensity tracking tools, and project financing strategies aimed at scaling the industry. WasteExpo 2025, held from May 5–8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, convened over 14,000 attendees and more than 600 exhibitors from nearly 100 countries, with a strong emphasis on technology and market-driven solutions for waste recovery. Key discussions centered on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance waste collection and processing efficiency. Additionally, sessions addressed emerging policies on food waste reduction, highlighting strategies for organics generators and processors to adapt to new regulations. The event also emphasized the importance of safety and workforce development, with hauler leaders discussing priorities and challenges in maintaining efficient operations. Sessions on RNG reflected growing confidence in RNG’s future as a fuel source for both transportation and power generation, especially amid rising electricity demand from data centers and AI infrastructure.
