Fly ash

IEA Bioenergy Task 36 invites you to participate in a free international technical webinar entitled “Valorisation of fly ash from Waste-to-Energy”. The webinar includes presenters from a number of fly ash treatment technologies either commercially available or under development in Europe. In addition, the webinar will give an overview of the fly ash handling in Europe and Japan. The webinar will be moderated by Inge Johansson researcher at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and leader of IEA Bioenergy Task 36, and Michaël Becidan senior researcher at SINTEF (Energy Research Department of Thermal Energy), Norway, also a member of IEA Bioenergy Task 36.

When:

Topic:

Overview of technical solutions for fly ash handling.

Fly ashes are residues generated from waste incineration that present a high potential for metals and salts recovery. The ashes have an extremely complex composition which requires the development of technologies that facilitate their handling and resource extraction. Only in Europe, there is a significant number of technologies commercially available or under development that aim at improving the fly ash handling, increase its value as resource and open new doors for potential applications. In this webinar we will present some of the European technologies and we will also be given an insight into fly ash handling in Japan.

Presenters:

  • Hirofumi Sakanakura, National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan – Fly ashes in Japan
  • Siegfried Reithaar, Sales manager, AIK Technik – FLUWA / FLUREC process
  • Karin Karlfeldt Fedje, Associate Professor, Chalmers University of Technology / Renova AB – Zn-recovery process
  • Morten Breinholt Jensen, Head of technology, NOAH – NOAH’s R&D project about fly ash
  • James Ng, APCr Contracts Manager, O.C.O Technology – Carbon 8 process
  • Jonas Wibom, Business developer, Ragn-Sells – Ash2Salt®
  • Maria Swartling, Process engineer/researcher, ScanArc – ScanArc/Scanfume
  • Erik Rasmussen, Project leader at Stena Recycling – HaloSep® process
