IEA Bioenergy Webinar – Circular economy, energy recovery from waste, and emerging pathways
Presented by
IEA Bioenergy Task 36 (Waste) organized a webinar on circular approach to waste management in the context of energy recovery, and the role of emerging technology pathways. As Circular Economy principles become embedded in the policies of governments and the strategies of organisations around the world, there are greater expectations on waste management systems to contribute to ‘keeping molecules in use for longer’. Circularity is no longer limited to electricity and heat; we are now seeing the role of energy recovery broaden to include applications in advanced recycling, alternative fuels, and hydrogen opportunities. There are many technical challenges to achieving these expectations, and innovation and demonstration are showing that it is possible.
