A bio:

Beau Hoffman is a Technology Manager within the United States Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office. Beau works with the Conversion Technologies R&D Program overseeing several research areas including biochemical processing and conversion and waste-to-energy technologies.. He has helped create the organic waste portfolio including leading resource assessment efforts, establishment of multiple funding programs, and the tech transfer and scale up of novel technologies. Beau also runs the waste-to-energy technical assistance program which pairs DOE National Laboratory experts with community planners to assess how novel technologies could be deployed in their community.

IEA expectations:

The US Department of Energy is pleased to continue its engagement with IEA Bioenergy Task 36. Resource and energy recovery from waste is critical to the concept of the Circular Economy and decarbonization goals. As such, the Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) invests in many areas relating to organic waste conversion to bioenergy, bioproducts, and biopower. Moreover, as advanced technologies start to mature and are being demonstrated in other member countries, it is critical to understanding what is driving their adoption: technology maturation, policies, and local needs. I look forward to also sharing some of the promising developments that are coming out of our funded R&D programs.
