A bio:

Mar is a researcher in the group “Resources from waste” at RISE working mainly within waste-to-energy. She has more than 10-year experience on working with waste and waste fuel composition. She has also worked with thermal processes of different types of wastes and formation of organic pollutants during these processes. Her main interest is on waste fuel, their composition and how waste minimization will affect them; as well as the role of waste-to-energy in a circular economy.

Her background is in chemical engineering and she got her Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry at Umeå University (Sweden) in 2016.

IEA expectations:

The members of IEA Bioenergy Task 36 for the triennium 2019-2021 represent countries all over the world with completely different approaches to Waste-to-energy. Being part of this task is a great opportunity for me to look at Waste-to-energy from another perspective than the Swedish one. I am expecting to exchange valuable knowledge; identify opportunities and barriers for the development of the Waste-to-energy sector and figure out together which will be the role of Waste-to-energy in a circular economy in each country member. I am looking forward to participating in discussions with this group of experts!
